Bio

Zac is Special Projects Manager at SASH, where he works on policy and communications for the AI Verification team. This work includes preparing briefings for policymakers, writing blog posts and op-eds about our work, and helping the team scale. Previously, he was a Winter Fellow at GovAI, where he worked on projects related to the EU AI Act and China. Before that he worked in program management and operations at 80,000 Hours. Zac is also a Research Manager for ERA's FASR program where he works with people doing AI verification fieldbuilding.

What we’re looking for in a Mentee

Experience: Interest in improving US-China coordination on AI, some existing familiarity with verification, ideally experience speaking to government.

Traits: High agency, able to work independently

What we’re like as Mentors

I aim to be pretty active and supportive to mentees, but see my main value add as enabling you to do your best work. In practice, this means 1-2 weekly meetings and staying in touch over Slack.
